Katie is a young artist, based in Norfolk and London, England. A wildlife and sporting artist, Katie is currently focusing on animals from UK, Africa and Europe. Her painting work contains elements of abstraction, large brush strokes and colour clashes. Her charcoals provide striking images, capturing the beauty of the animal alone. Katie also does commission based projects.
Katie works mainly in the mediums of charcoal, acrylic and oil paint. Katie believes that art is about capturing a moment in time, an emotion, a movement, a snapshot of this fascinating world and the life we create. Within her work, she believes the subject holds enough beauty that it needs no background to deter our focus and attention.
I'm so excited to be entering the EOY competition. The charity supported is such a great cause and having grown up in East Anglia, it rings close to home and to my heart. Being a vegan, I recognise the human side of all sentient animals and their unconditional love and support can be so powerful within our daily lives. My work continues on the theme of the animal kingdom through wildlife in UK to Africa. My charcoals/chalks provide striking images, capturing the beauty of the animal alone and I believe the subject holds enough beauty that it needs no background to deter our focus and attention. I also work in oil and acrylic, using vivid colour combinations.
