I have just finished my first year of Fine Art: Painting at University of Brighton having completed my foundation year last year at the Royal Drawing School. During this time, I have made a series of abstract works informed by sketches I make of my surroundings. Although the work is abstract, it is heavily reliant on my drawings or collected images in terms of colour, forms, shapes, gesture and mood. The paintings I have made throughout this year have mainly been improvised so that the paintings or series could evolve idiosyncratically without a pre-planned guild line of the result. I have found this way of working interesting in the development of my paintings, both in aesthetic and process.
